FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State University's Athletic Department took part in the Find Your Yes Day hosted by a coalition headquartered at the Franklin County Health Department, Just Say Yes on Monday and Tuesday at the Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm in Frankfort. Just Say Yes works with community partners to focus on prevention, education and community involvement.
The event brought together 6th grade students from local schools to participate in a range of activities, including arts and crafts, outdoor games, martial arts, and more.
Student-athletes and staff from Kentucky State Athletics were on hand to assist with the various activities, providing mentorship and leadership throughout the day. The event, which aims to empower youth through positive engagement, was an opportunity for the Thorobreds to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of young people.
"I enjoy helping those from all communities. It brings a smile to my face meeting new people and hearing a small piece of their life stories and being able to bring a smile to their faces through my small actions," said Graduate Student Jeana Weatherspoon.
The day included fishing, arts and crafts, improv acting, sports, martial arts demonstrations, and other engaging activities aimed at promoting teamwork and creativity. Kentucky State volunteers helped facilitate the various stations and engaged with participants throughout the day, reinforcing the importance of community involvement and healthy lifestyles.
