LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky State University football student-athletes shared insights into their academic and athletic journeys with seniors from the Carter G. Woodson Academy during a special visit Thursday morning.

Kentucky State student-athletes answered a variety of questions from the high school seniors, covering topics such as their pathways to college, the level of preparation they felt coming from high school, and their personal life experiences along the way. The exchange offered a unique perspective on the challenges and rewards of college life, both on and off the field.

The Carter G. Woodson Academy provides an advanced and rigorous curriculum that meets the new common core standards through the lens of African-American history, culture, and culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies. This traditional college preparatory program, which launched in the fall of 2012, serves at-promise males in grades 6-12 who have unlimited potential.  All participants will graduate college- and career-ready.

This event is part of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics ongoing commitment to community outreach and mentorship, fostering relationships with future college students and supporting their academic and personal growth.
