FRANKFORT, Ky. – As the holiday season unfolds, the Kentucky State football team radiates warmth and spreads joy by generously providing gifts to a family in Frankfort. This heartwarming initiative is not just a seasonal gesture but a testament to the team's unwavering commitment to giving back to the community.
At the forefront of this compassionate effort is offensive line coach John Cody. Drawing inspiration from his own experiences in college, Cody reflects, "This was something that my offensive line coach in college instilled in us, where the offensive line would gather, donate money, and adopt a local family. This truly hit home for me. I was fortunate to grow up without ever missing Christmas, so being able to give back, even if it's just to one family, holds immense importance to me."
Entering his first year at Kentucky State, Cody knew that continuing this tradition was something he was passionate about. "The student-athletes have shown genuine enthusiasm and have admirably contributed by donating their own money. They received support from their families, allowing us to return here and joyfully wrap the gifts. It was a heartening experience to have the players and my wife come together to make a difference for this family this year," Cody expressed.
Beyond the touchdowns and victories on the field, this thoughtful outreach underscores the team's commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those around them. In the spirit of the season, Kentucky State football goes beyond the game, reminding us all of the true meaning of community and compassion."
