FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) engaged in a question-and-answer session with students at Elkhorn Middle School, shining a light on the multifaceted lives of collegiate athletes.
The discussion, held at the middle school located in the heart of Frankfort, Kentucky, offered a platform for young students to inquire about the daily routines, dietary habits, and academic opportunities available to student-athletes at Kentucky State University. The event aimed to demystify the student-athlete experience and provide insight into the balance between athletics, academics, and personal life.
SAAC Events Coordinator Kayla Thompson said, "The kids really were curious about just the college life and college experience, especially with from student athlete perspective. They asked us about how our schedules will go, our diets and what do we typically eat? What's our typical schedule? Asking us about our class schedules and are we online or in person. We all discussed that there's various type of schedules and depending on the sport, everything should be aligned with your classes."
The interactive session covered a broad range of topics, from the specifics of managing time effectively to the importance of nutrition in an athlete's daily regimen. Students were particularly interested in learning about the academic programs that support student-athletes in their educational and career pursuits.
The SAAC's visit to Elkhorn Middle School not only served as an educational experience for the middle school students but also as an inspiration, potentially nurturing future Thorobreds who may one day walk the halls of Kentucky State University.
