ALBANY, Ga – The Kentucky State baseball ends their championship run in a tough 13-1 loss to the Savannah State Tigers at the 2023 SIAC Baseball Championship in Albany, Georgia.
As a team, the Thorobreds tallied eight hits, with
John Hidgon leading the way, going 2-of-2 at the plate with one RBI in the sixth inning that sent
Jace Wilson across home plate.
Albany State scored their 13 runs through five innings, with the Thorobreds scoring one run, a single to center field by Hidgon.
Kentucky State finished 16-13 in SIAC play and 21-23 overall. During the 2023 season, the Thorobreds finished second in the SIAC for double plays (29), double plays per game (0.71), doubles (82), home runs (38), and home runs per game (0.93).
Among being a leader in the conference, the Thorobreds had the 2023 SIAC Player of the Year
Joseph Esparza and Elite 14 honoree
Collier Higgs.
