ATLANTA — After a record-setting performance against Lane, senior outfielder
Ryan Campbell was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Campbell authored one of the most dominant performances in NCAA history during a record-breaking weekend. On April 4, he finished just one home run shy of the NCAA Division II single-game record, hitting four home runs and driving in eight RBIs. For the series against Lane, he went 7-for-14 at the plate, tallying seven runs and 13 total bases.
Both the Thorobreds and Dragons etched their names in the NCAA Division II baseball record book on April 4. The teams combined for 58 runs, which was the second-most in history, along with 51 combined hits, one shy of the record. The pair also tied the mark for the most combined walks with 32.
Kentucky State will be back in action April 8 as it hosts the University of the Cumberlands. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Western Hills High School Baseball Field in Frankfort, Kentucky.
