Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State baseball jumped ahead early with eight runs in the first inning and withstood a six-run ninth-inning rally to defeat Lane 12-11 in the series opener Friday.

The Thorobreds finished the game with 11 hits, an effort led by three hits from Haruta Endo, followed by Brady Wooldridge and Jonathan Padgett, who added two hits each.

On the mound, Tyler Cansler earned the win, pitching two innings and allowing five hits. Brad Dossett earned the save, facing three batters and limiting the Dragons to one run to secure the win for the Thorobreds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Kentucky State opened the first inning with a fast start, as miscues from Lane and a single into left field from Wooldridge added two runs, and a double into right field from Ryan Campbell added another two runs to put the Thorobreds ahead 8-0.

Three Kentucky State runs were added in the second inning, led by singles from Logan Christophel, Wooldridge and Padgett, extending the lead to 11-0.

A pair of home runs in the fifth and seventh innings by the Dragons cut the Thorobreds' lead to 11-5 heading into the eighth inning.

An error from Lane proved costly as Endo was able to cross home plate and score the final run for Kentucky State.

In the final frame, the Dragons scored six runs, with Dossett cutting their rally short to help the Thorobreds to a 12-11 victory.
