Kentucky State Athletics Volunteers for the Derby Dash Hosted by the Frankfort YMCA in part of the Governor’s Derby Day Celebration

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky State University Athletic Department student-athletes and staff showed its community spirit by volunteering for the Derby Dash a series of road races for kids age 3 - 12 years old hosted by the Frankfort YMCA in part of the Governor's Derby Day Celebration.
 
Student-Athletes and staff came together, assist with activities surrounding along with Esperance Nibitanga serving as the starter for the dash.
 
The Frankfort YMCA Governor's Derby Day Celebration is an annual event that brings the community together for a day of fun and celebration. The event features a range of activities, the derby dash,  food trucks, and games. 
 

"We were so glad to be here to help this morning. It was so fun for us to see all the kids running the races and having our staff and student-athletes encouraging them and helping with the event.  We truly enjoyed being a part of this community activity and look forward to many more opportunities to get involved in the future." Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Jackie Duvall said following the event. 

 
Kentucky State University Athletic Department's involvement in the celebration reflects its commitment to community service, as well as its dedication to its student-athletes, who not only excel in their sport but also take an active role in their community.
