Box Score 1 OAKLAND, IN – Strong defensive play pushes Kentucky State Baseball to a pair of 2-0 wins to sweep non-conference opponent Oakland City.
In the opening inning of the first game,
Jared Pierce scored on a passed ball to give Kentucky State a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Kelton Saylor singled to right field in the fifth inning to advance a runner to third and send
Dom Lawson across home plate to secure a 2-0 victory. The Thorobreds tallied nine hits and two errors and kept Oakland City to just four hits.
Defensive control continued into the second game with a 2-0 win by Kentucky State.
Daniel Moore hit a two-run homer to right field, allowing
Adren Thompson to score and secure the win. The Thorobreds allowed seven hits while tallying five hits and two runs.
Byron Famble led Kentucky State at the plate, going two-of-three from the plate.
Up Next
Kentucky State will host league opponent Tuskegee in a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, April 29th. The first pitch is slated for noon, following the game there will be a senior day presentation.
