Box Score 2 FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Baseball splits doubleheader with Rockhurst losing the first game 17-9 and winning the second game 16-4.
Game 1
Rockhurst got ahead early in the game to win the first game 17-9.
The fourth inning would consist of multiple home runs and scoring plays for Kentucky State.
Adren Thompson put the first runs on the board on a homerun to left sending himself and
Kelton Saylor across home plate.
Antonio Chambers homered to center field adding one run to the three runs scored at the bottom of the fourth.
An error by Rockhurst early in the bottom of the seventh allowed
Aram Kumar to score.
Jared Pierce scored on a double by Dominic Lawson.
Kelton Saylor hit a homerun sending himself and Lawson home. Kumar hit a ground ball that advanced runners on base with Thompson scoring. The final score of the game would come on an unearned by
Roby Schank.
Kentucky State had nine hits in the game, with Saylor and Lawson earning multiple hits. Saylor led Kentucky State with three hits in four at bats.
Game 2
The Thorobreds defeated Rockhurst 16-4 in the final contest of the home series.
Saylor tripled on a big hit to center field sending Pierce, Lawson, and
Collier Higgs across home plate. Saylor added the final run of the third inning.
Lawson doubled on a line drive to center field allowing Kumar to score. In the following play Pierce would score. Lawson scored as Famble was walked. Chambers hit a hard ground ball to center field sending Saylor and Thompson home. Famble scored on a fly ball to left field to complete the inning and give the Thorobeds a 10-4 lead at the bottom of the fourth.
Chapman was walked in the bottom of the fifth sending Higgs across home plate. Saylor would score on a fielder's choice and Famble would score giving the Thorobreds a 14-4 lead.
The final runs of the day for Kentucky State came from Pierce and Lawson on a double by Higgs. The Thorobreds won the contest 16-4.
