Box Score PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Sophomore
Dashawn Hureskin struck out 14 batters over seven innings as the Kentucky State University baseball team opened the 2020 season with a 2-0 win over Fairmont State Friday in the 2020 Peachtree City Baseball Classic.
Hureskin (Benton Harbor, Mich.) struck out the first nine batters he faced, but had to settle for the no-decision as he left the scoreless game after seven innings. He allowed just three hits and walked three in his seven-inning performance.

Chance Egnor (Shepherdsville, Ky.) provided all of the offense with a one-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth inning. Kentucky State loaded the bases in the frame on back-to-back-to-back singles from junior
Dom Lawson (Bloomfield, Ky.), junior
Adren Thompson (Lexington, Ky.) and sophomore
Josh Graves (Springfield, Ky.). Lawson and Thompson would come around to score on Egnor's double.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Freshman Jonathan Morris, 1-0, (Lexington, Ky.) earned the victory with two innings of hitless relief. The Georgetown College transfer finished with three strikeouts.
- Lawson finished with the 11th multi-hit game of his career, going 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Thompson recorded the 13th multi-hit game of his career with a 2-for-4 night.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- It was the second straight year Kentucky State kicked off the season with a victory. The Thorobreds knocked off Voorhees, 11-4, in the 2019 opener.
- For the fourth time in his career, Egnor drove in multiple RBI in a game.
- Sixty-three percent of the KSU's recorded outs came via strikeout.
- Hitters two through seven went 7-for-20 (.350) with a double and two runs scored.
