Box Score DENMARK, S.C. – The Kentucky State University baseball team completed the non-conference three-game series sweep over Vorhees with a 5-3 win in a rain-shortened game.
Kentucky State scored one run in the third inning and a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Voorhees scored a pair of runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, and had the tying run at the plate before junior Dom Lawson (Bloomfield, Ky.) induced a ground ball to end the Voorhees rally. Lawson, 1-0, allowed three earned runs on four hits over five innings. He struck out seven with four walks.

Freshman Collier Higgs (Owensboro, Ky.) had the first multi-hit game of his career, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk. Sophomore Josh Graves (Springfield, Ky.) recorded his second multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Sophomore Jace Wilson (Shepherdsville, Ky.) tallied two RBI by virtue of a two-out double in the fifth inning.

Junior Jared Pierce (Lexington, Ky.), freshman Trey Walker (Farmington Hills, Mich.) and freshman Kelton Saylor (Rossville, Ind.) all had RBI in the win.

Kentucky State (5-2 overall), winners of four straight, travels to Richmond, Ky. 3 p.m. Tuesday to face Division I Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels are 3-0 following a three-game sweep of Presbyterian.
