Two Kentucky State University baseball student-athletes are among the 57 players from Historically Black College and Universities named to the 2019 Black College Nines' Elite Teams, the organization announced today (May 22, 2019).
Senior
Jordan Ransom (Ringgold, GA) earned first team honors in the small school division, while junior pitcher
Brady Bibbs (Hornersville, MO) picked up second team recognition. Additionally, head coach
Rob Henry was named the small school division Head Coach of the Year.
Henry led the Thorobreds to their first winning season since 1988, and the most wins since Kentucky State won 28 games in 1979.
Ransom, who was the SIAC Utility Player of Year, earned a spot on the Elite Team as an outfielder. He hit .357 and led the team in slugging percentage (.656), runs scored (48), triples (5), homeruns (10), RBI (43) and stolen bases (19). He also served as the team's closer, recording an SIAC-best five saves.
Bibbs, the SIAC Starting Pitcher of the Year, was 8-1 with a 4.50 ERA. He hurled 64.0 innings, while appearing in 11 games with 10 starts.
