ATLANTA – Kentucky State University freshman Alaria Long has been honored by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the league announced today (Monday, April 9, 2019).

Long (Covington, KY) dropped an astounding 23 seconds off her career-best 800 meter time, finishing the event in 2:34. She is the second KSU runner to earn the conference's weekly award this season.

"I am really impressed with Alaria's performance this past weekend," said Kentucky State University head coach Fatimah Shabazz. "I see more confidence in her running, and I am looking forward to more good showings these next few weeks."

Kentucky State competes Friday at the Centre College Twilight, its last meet before the SIAC Championships.
