ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has named a pair of Thorobreds as the top nominees, track and field's
Amani Wagner was the Woman of the Year Nominee, and baseball's
Collier Higgs was the Man of the Year Nominee.
The selections were modeled after criteria set forth by the NCAA, which requires the evaluation of four guidelines, including a personal statement, a chart that highlights the individual's service and leadership activities, academic achievement, and athletic excellence. Each guideline holds a score weight not exceeding 30% with a ranking scale of 1-5.
Amani Wagner was the Woman of the Year finalist, as she is a leader of her peers and fellow student-athletes, an outstanding track and field student-athlete, while earning a 3.46 GPA and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Collier Higgs was the top nominee for Man of the Year as he has shown exceptional character traits, a stout baseball career, a scholar graduating with a 4.0 GPA and a bachelor's degree in business administration, and being the Class of 2023 Valedictorian.
The SIAC Man and Woman of the Year will officially be announced on June 15, 2023.
