Frankfort, Ky. - Kentucky State University baseball picked up a pair of wins in a doubleheader against SIAC foe Lane College on Friday afternoon.

The Thorobreds look to pick up the three-game sweep against Lane Saturday at 1 pm ET.

Game 1: KSU 6 Lane 5

After falling to an early 1-0 deficit in the second inning, sophomore outfielder
Jay Poullard reached base on a walk before stealing second to put the tying run in scoring position. The next at-bat saw sophomore outfielder
Cameron Starks blast a double to drive in Poullard, making the score one apiece.

KSU (14-26, 8-5 SIAC) added its second run on the afternoon after senior third baseman
Brandon Story grounded out with junior outfielder
Elijah Collins on third to give the home squad a 2-1 advantage.

During the bottom of the fifth with runners on second and third, the Thorobreds extended their lead to two runs after junior shortstop
Justin Stinson singled to left field to score the runner from second base and make the score 3-1.

The Dragons picked up four runs in the top of the seventh to reclaim the lead at 5-3. Collins cut the Lane lead down to one after scoring on a single. Stinson walked to put the game-tying run on base before a double by Story put runners on second and third. Junior catcher
Greg Alexander walked to load the bases for Poullard, who blasted a shot to left to score two and earn the walk-off win for the Thorobreds.

Senior pitcher
Josh Dunn had an impressive outing on the mound for KSU, striking out nine Lane batters in seven innings of action. Collins went 3-for-3 from the plate with a walk while Poullard went 1-for-3 and drove in a team-high two RBIs for the home team.

Game 2: KSU 15 Lane 2

KSU (15-26, 9-5 SIAC) took advantage of free bases early, as Collins was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the first. After Collins had advanced to second on a throwing error, Stinson walked, and Story was also hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Thorobreds. Alexander gave his team the lead following a sacrifice fly to left field to score Collins.

KSU did not trail in the contest, as it outscored the Dragons 14-2 throughout the remainder of the game to pick up its second win of the afternoon.

Sophomore pitcher
Joe Crisp earned his fourth win of the year, striking out two in seven innings of work. Alexander went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs while Poullard went 3-for-3 with three RBI of his own for the home squad.Â
