Frankfort, Ky. -  Kentucky State University baseball fell 18-13 in SIAC action to Tuskegee University on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Thorobreds' bats proved to be as active as they were the day before. In the bottom half of the first inning, after falling to an early 1-0 deficit and having runners on second and third, junior catcher 
Greg Alexander tripled to center field to give the home squad the 2-1 advantage. After a double by sophomore outfielder 
Jay Poullard, sophomore first baseman 
Cameron Starks belted a double to right field, scoring both runners to make the score 4-1 in favor of KSU.
 
The Golden Tigers clawed their way back into the game, scoring two runs in the top of the second and third to give the visitors a 5-4 lead.
 
The Thorobreds reclaimed the advantage in the bottom of the third following two wild pitches to give the hosts a 6-5 lead.

 
TU tied things up at six apiece in the top of the fourth before taking over in the top half of the fifth, scoring six runs to leap out to a 12-6 lead.
 
KSU (9-22, 3-3 SIAC) was unable to mount a comeback despite a five-run fifth inning as the home squad saw its two-game win streak snapped.
 
Sophomore pitcher 
Joshua Owsley was handed the loss for the Thorobreds, striking out two and allowing eight earned runs as he fell to a 2-3 record on the season. Alexander went 4-for-6 from the plate, driving in a team-high three runs while sophomore shortstop 
Russell Sims went 2-for-2 with a RBI and a homerun, the first of his career.

 
The Thorobreds will be on the road in non-conference action against the University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. ET.
