FRANKFORT, Ky. – Members of the Kentucky State women's basketball team volunteered their time at the Access Soup Kitchen and Men's Shelter in downtown Frankfort on Aug. 29. The team was joined by KSU interim President Raymond Burse, who helped the team serve meals and then spent time in conversation with those they had served.
Women's Basketball Head Coach
Serena King-Coleman and the team served meals for several hours.
"The lessons found when giving back are invaluable," King-Coleman said. "Everyone got the chance to go through this experience together alongside our new leader at KSU, interim President Burse, which was nice."
"Serving at the Access Soup Kitchen was a privilege and humbling experience for our players and staff," King-Coleman said further. "It is imperative for the players to understand the importance of giving back to their surrounding community and to appreciate the opportunities they've been given as student-athletes."
The Access Soup Kitchen and Men's Shelter serves the needy and homeless men in Frankfort.
