SIGNEE SPOTLIGHT: Logan Powell and Jessica Jones

FRANKFORT, Ky. –
The Kentucky State women's basketball team has added a pair local products to their 2014-15 recruiting class.

Transfers Logan Powell (Marion County/Lebanon, Ky.) and Jessica Jones (Boone County/Florence, Ky.) will join the Thorobrettes for the 2014-15 season. Powell, a 6-foot forward who spent her freshman year at NCAA DI program Norfolk State, was a member of the 39-0 MCHS women's basketball team that won the 2013 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Championship. Jones, a 5-foot-5 guard transferring after one year at Tennessee Tech, helped the Rebels earn a pair of "Sweet 16" appearances in her time at BCHS.

Powell and Jones will add depth to a Thorobrettes team that went 12-15 overall last season but returns five players that averaged at least five points per game last season. Powell, who averaged 8.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 20.4 minutes per game last season and was named to the MEAC All-Rookie team, will look to add depth and versatility to a KSU front court that returns All-SIAC forwards Brieona Warner and Shayla Moore. Jones, a long jump state champion in high school, will be an athletic guard to pair in the backcourt with last year's starting point guard Taylor Sanders.

"We're really excited to have a couple of local girls on the team next season," Head Coach Serena King-Coleman said. "Their experience and skill sets will fit really well with our returning core."
