Box Score 3 ATLANTA --Â The Kentucky State used a 22-2 blowout victory in the final game of their three-game weekend series to cap off a solid weekend against the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers. The team's split a doubleheader at Perkerson Park on Saturday, Mar. 22 before the Thorobreds big win on Sunday afternoon.

Kentucky State moves to 4-25 overall this season and 2-8 in conference play. Morehouse College improves to 7-19 overall and a 1-6 in SIAC action.

GAME 1
Kentucky State was plagued by seven errors and Morehouse took advantage, securing a 4-3 victory in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The teams were knotted at 2-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. After three straight KSU errors, Morehouse's Zachary Lowe hit a 2-RBI double to put the Maroon Tigers ahead 4-2.

In the top of the seventh Kentucky State was able to score a run after an
Austin Railey groundout allowed
Josh O'Reel crossed the plate cutting the MC lead to 4-3. The KSU comeback fell short though as
Cornell Brown popped up to end the game.

AJ Garza-Hall (0-4) was saddled with the loss despite not giving up an earned run in 6.0 innings. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out seven.

John Paul Benard (1-0) pitched 7.0 solid innings to earn the complete game victory. Benard allowed seven hits and struck out one.

GAME 2
Kentucky State played much better in the second game, bouncing back with a 9-6 win over the Maroon Tigers to finish Saturdays schedule.

Once again, the Maroon Tigers were able to strike first against the Thorobreds, but unlike game one, Kentucky State was able to come up with a big offensive inning of their own. In the top of the fifth, trailing 2-0, Kentucky State was able to drive in six runs, taking a commanding 6-2 lead that they never relinquished.

Alexander Davie and Reginald Grimes combined to go 4-for-5 with three RBI to lead KSU offensively.

Josh Dunn (1-7) earned his first win of the season as he pitched 6.0 innings and struck out three MC batters. Josh Reel (1) earned his first save of the season as he helped secure the win for the Thorobreds.

Dickerson (0-1) was given the loss after allowing eight earned runs and walking four batters.

GAME 3
Kentucky State exploded for 23 runs in the final game of the weekend series on Sunday afternoon. The Thorobreds secured the 23-2 victory by controlling every facet of the game to earn their second straight victory.

The Thorobreds kept the hot bats going as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning.Â
Mike Swayne (3-for-5, 3 RBI) and Alex Davie (3-for-3, 3 RBI) singled to get on base before
Marshall Howard IV brought everyone home by smashing a 3-run homerun.

After holding the Maroon Tigers scoreless in the bottom of the first, Kentucky State kept their hot streak going as they piled on a season 13 runs in the second inning.

Kentucky State used a combination of six pitchers who combined to strikeout seven Maroon Tiger batters while allowing just four hits.

Kentucky State finished the game with a season high 19 hits as a team against Morehouse College.

Cornell Brown (2-3) picked up the win for KSU after two innings of work.

Morehouse starter Colley (0-1) pitched 1.0 inning giving up five hits, nine runs, and nine errors in the loss.
