LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky State University baseball team fell to the Asbury University Eagles, 10-2, on Monday evening in Lexington, KY. The away game was played at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, home of the Houston Astros Class A affiliate, Lexington Legends.
The Eagles took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when AU, with the bases loaded, drew a walk and had a batter hit by a pit on consecutive at bats to give Asbury a 2-0 lead. Asbury third baseman Andrew Moran then reached on a single to third base. A throwing error by KSU third baseman 
Josh O'Reel allowed an extra run to score and Asbury held a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Asbury picked up two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to push its lead to 6-0.
AU added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning, taking a 10-0 lead.
Kentucky State picked up two runs in the top of the fifth inning when KSU left fielder 
Alexander Davie hit a 2-RBI double down the right field line to cut the Asbury lead to 10-2.
Ryan Gardner (0-3) was given the loss for Kentucky State after lasting just one inning. Gardner gave up just one hit but surrendered four runs, three of which were earned.
Asbury starting pitcher Anthony Palmer earned the victory for the Eagles after pitching six innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs.

rd matchup at Pikeville College. The Wednesday doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. in Pikeville, KY.
