Kentucky State Baseball Falls to Stillman in Second Round of SIAC Tourney

Box Score OZARK, Ala. (April 27, 2012)—Kentucky State's baseball squad took on division rival Stillman College tonight in the second round of the 2012 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Stillman scored the first run of the game on a single through the left side by Trent Posey to score Landon Wilson. The Breds held Stillman scoreless until the fifth inning with sound, error-free defense, but in the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers exploded for five runs on five hits and one error to take a 6-1 lead.
 
KSU would not go quietly. In the top of the seventh inning, Marshall Howard singled up the middle with one out. After Ben Tabb struck out, Bryan Berry singled down the right field line, advancing Howard to third. Andrew Ramsey drove batted in Berry and Howard on a deep triple to left center and then scored himself on a single up the middle by Ben Schroeder (KSU down 3-6).
 
Stillman answered in the bottom of the seventh scoring one run on two hits and then two runs on three hits and two errors in the bottom of the eighth to take a 9-3 win over the Breds.
 
Ramsey led the breds with two hits and two RBIs and one run scored. 

Kentucky State will now play Miles College at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 in an elimination game. A win keeps the Breds' season alive and playing the winner of the Claflin-Paine game at 6 p.m.
