Box Score Sunday April 15, 2012, was senior day for the KSU Thorobreds as they defeated Lane College. The Thorobreds swept the Dragons in three games this weekend.
The pitching matchup in this game was Matthew Adel(KSU) vs. Brandon Smoot(LC).
Both teams started the game slow going scoreless through the first two innings. However, in the 3
rd inning, the Thorobreds went on a scoring streak with hits from Benjamin Schroeder, Kyle Clark,
Raphael Amey, and
Michael Swayne. This all led to five runs to end the inning.
The Breds kept up the scoring in the 4
th inning bringing in four runs with hits from Clark, Amey, and Jamaal Duncan. Adel and the Breds defense continued their great play holding the Dragons to no runs and no hits through 5 innings.
At the bottom of the 5
th inning, the Breds continued their scoring onslaught with hits from Clark, Duncan, and a Homerun from
Andrew Ramsey. This led to three runs in the 5
th inning bring the score to 12-0, Thorobreds.
KSU did not let up in the 6
th inning, as Adel continued his no hitter and the Breds continued to bring in runs. A total of 8 runs were scored in the bottom of the 6
th inning from the Breds. Hits came in from Ramsey, Clark, Swayne, Gregory White, and a Homerun from Schoreder. The score was 20-0, KSU to end the inning.
At the top of the 7
th inning, Adel and the Breds finally gave up a hit and allowed two runs to score. The Breds turned the defense back up, and forced three straight outs to end the game with the 10-run rule. The final score of the game was 20-2, Thorobreds.
KSU (12-21, 11-7 SIAC) battles Oakland City University (DH) on Tuesday, April 17 at 1pm at the KSU Baseball Field.
