ALBANY, Ga.--Because of weather and field conditions, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has changed the times of the opening day games of the 2011 Baseball Championship Tournament at the Paul Eames Baseball Complex. The double-elimination tournament will kick off Thursday at 1 p.m. with the #4 Claflin University Panthers against the #5 Miles College Golden Bears on Field 2 at the complex. The #6 Albany State University Golden Rams will play in the 4 p.m. game against the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers.
“We have had to shift the games today because of the rain and wet field conditions,” said Ben Baxter, SIAC director of communications. “We will play the first two games on Field 2, and plan to use both fields for 7 p.m. games. We may have even more changes based on weather and conditions.”
The 7 p.m. games will feature the #1 Stillman College Tigers against #8 Paine College Lions and #1 Benedict College Tigers against the #8 Kentucky State University Thorobreds.
The championship game is slated for Saturday at 4 p.m. The winner will represent the SIAC in the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament in May.
