KSUBaseball Program Battles Miles College On The Road

Birmingham, AL -The Thorobreds of KSU traveled to Birmingham, AL to take on Miles College at Rickwood Field.

The 1st inning started with KSU at bat first. Center Fielder Raphael Amey scored first after an advance off an error. 3rd baseman Michael Swayne flied out to centerfield and 1st baseman Gregory White got out on 2nd to close out the 1st inning. Miles produced two runs in the 1st inning. KSU failed to gain any runs in the 2nd while Miles's Left Fielded Ramsey ran in a run before 3rd baseman Hatfield flied out to centerfield. KSU's Left Fielder Matthew Brown scored in the 3rd inning followed by a fly out to the picture by 3rd Baseman Michael Swayne. Miles College saw runs from Ramsey, Cole, and Jones in the 3rd inning. KSU went into the 4th inning down 2-6 and struggled to produce any runs in the 4th. Miles's 1st Baseman Melvin scored a run that was followed by a strike-out by Moore and ground out from Ramsey. KSU looked a little more alive in the 5th inning with runs from 2nd Baseman Jeremy Newton and Catcher Fisher. Miles College was able to produce a run from Fain that would prove to be the last run of the game. Neither team scored again in the 6th or 7th innings. KSU left the field with a tough loss, 8-4.

The Thorobreds took the field with Miles again for a second matchup at Rickwood Field. KSU started at bat first but failed to produce any hits or runs in the 1st inning. Miles's Left Fielder C. Kelley scored a run in the 1st inning. The game proved to be a defensive thriller as neither team was able to gain a run until the 6th inning. KSU's 1st baseman Vasquez scored a run followed by another run by Right Fielder Jamaal Duncan. KSU carried their 2-1 lead into the 7th inning but failed to produce any more runs. Miles scored off two runs by Left Fielder C. Kelley and 2nd Baseman A. Jones to steal away a 3-2 victory over KSU.

In KSU's final meeting against Miles College, KSU took at bat first. KSU's Center Fielder Raphael Amey opened the inning with a triple that led to a score for the Thorobreds. The run was followed with outs by White, Duncan, and Swayne. Miles's C. Kelley produced the teams only run of the 1st inning. KSU couldn't achieve a run in the 2nd inning while Miles capitalized on KSU's inability to score with a run of their own from 3rd Baseman R. Cole. KSU's Matthew Brown managed to get a run off in the 3rd inning while Miles produced 2 more runs in the 3rd inning. The 4th inning proved to be dull for both teams as KSU and Miles both produced only 1 hit and 0 runs. Brown was able to pull in another run for KSU in the 5th inning. Miles College answered back with 2 runs of their own in the 5th inning. KSU gained a total of two more runs in the 6th and 7th innings while Miles College failed to score in the 6th but delivered a run out of 1st baseman Hatfield. Miles also scored on 2 more runs in the 8th inning while KSU failed to produce any more runs the rest of the game. KSU ended the game down 9-5.
