KSU Baseball Falls To Tuskegee At Home

Frankfort, KY - The KSU Men's Baseball program took on Tuskegee University in a home game at Thorobred Stadium.

The first inning saw the Tigers of Tuskegee at bat first. 2nd Baseman Kenneth Binford earned the first run of the day, followed by strike-outs from Catcher Bryant Chambliss and Left Fielder Bradley Thomas. KSU was unable to score in the first inning, producing only one hit which was a double to right center by 1st baseman Gregory White. Tuskegee produced two runs in the second inning as KSU again was unable to produce any runs. In the third inning, Tuskegee managed to gain two more runs from Catcher Bryant Chambliss and Shortstop Cash Oliver. The fourth inning saw no runs or scores for either team. Tuskegee's Cash Oliver earned another run in the fifth inning. KSU finally found a rhythm at bat in the sixth inning with runs from Designated Hitter Michael Swayne and Shortstop Matthew Adel. Tuskegee answered back with two runs of their own in the seventh inning. KSU was held scoreless in the seventh inning. Tuskegee earned two more runs in the eighth inning also. KSU came alive in the eighth inning and produced five earned runs. Tuskegee went scoreless through the ninth inning while KSU went on to only gain one run, from Michael Swayne, to close out the inning. The final score of the game showed Tuskegee as the victors, taking a 10-8 victory over KSU.

Tuskegee started at bat first in the second game against KSU at Thorobred Stadium. Tuskegee managed to gain two runs from Center Fielder William Buford and Designated Hitter Jeremy Williams. The Thorobreds answered back with one run if their own from Center Fielder Andrew Ramsey. Both teams went scoreless through the 2nd inning. Tuskegee opened up in the 3rd inning and produced three hits off two hits while KSU struggled to produce a run. Both teams went scoreless through the next three innings. Tuskegee could not produce any runs in the 7th inning also while KSU's Shortstop Jordan Cox scored on a passed ball unearned. Tuskegee took the game 5-2 despite the late game effort from the Thorobreds.

In the last match against Tuskegee, the Tigers were at bat first. Tuskegee managed to produce 5 runs off KSU pitcher Jordan Cox. KSU came out in the first inning looking a little shaky, achieving only one hit by Right Fielder Raphael Amey that singled to first. Amey then proceeded to steal second. The Thorobreds couldn't produce a run in the first inning as 3rd Baseman Michael Swayne was grounded to 3rd base to close the inning. No runs were achieved by either team in the second inning. Tuskegee failed to score in the 3rd inning also, but KSU made their way onto the scoreboard with runs from Shortstop Jeremy Newton and Center Fielder Andrew Ramsey. Tuskegee entered the fourth inning ahead of the Thorobreds 5-2. Pitcher William Buford scored on an unearned run for Tuskegee, which would be the only run in the fourth inning. KSU couldn't produce any runs in the fourth inning. Center Fielder Cameron Duncan earned a run in the fifth inning and Tuskegee succeeded in stopping KSU from scoring in the fifth inning also. In the sixth inning Tuskegee scored 6 more times while KSU's Catcher Andy Fisher managed to earn a run in the sixth also. Tuskegee traded a run a piece with KSU in seventh inning of the match. The end score showed Tuskegee victorious over KSU, 14-4.
