FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State football is headed to the Bahamas for the YES Bahamas HBCU Classic on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. ET at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. The Thorobreds will face SIAC opponent Morehouse.
The matchup between the two Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes will be each program's first football in the Bahamas and the second consecutive YES HBCU Classic held in the Caribbean.
As a visionary in collegiate athletics, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Grant Stepp continues to pioneer new frontiers for HBCU athletics by strategically expanding the student-athlete experience on an international scale.
"We are thrilled to continue this partnership and provide our student-athletes with a life-changing opportunity to represent Kentucky State University on a global stage." Stepp said. "This game is more than just a conference game, it is a celebration of our culture and the competitive excellence of Kentucky State football."
Kentucky State continues to provide student-athletes opportunities to compete in both professional and historic venues. In the past decade, the Thorobreds have competed six times in these venues, highlighted by appearances at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts; Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans; and the historic Ohio Stadium.
Head coach
Felton Huggins Jr. has also brought championship-caliber football back to The Hill. During the 2025 season, he not only led the Thorobreds to a 9-3 overall record, the program's best regular-season finish since 1935, but also to the program's first NCAA playoff berth. The Thorobreds also set a school record with seven SIAC wins, finishing league play at 7-1.
