DANVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky State men's track and field team secured a fifth-place finish, while the women's team claimed 13th at the Centre Indoor Showcase in Danville, Kentucky.
In track events,
Yumana Lofton led the Thorobreds with a fourth-place finish in the men's 60-meter dash, clocking 6.93 seconds. Tyran Forte also impressed, placing fifth in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.97) and eighth in the 300-meter run (37.75). Iyanna Thompson-Carson secured a seventh-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.56, while
Justin Smith placed seventh in the men's 800-meter run (2:08.65). The men's 4x400-meter relay team, composed of Smith, Lofton,
Demarreon Green, and
Joshua Merriweather, finished seventh with a time of 3:37.80.
In field events,
Nigel Cochran took fifth in the men's long jump, leaping 6.36 meters (20 feet, 10.5 inches). Valencia Davis earned two top-10 finishes, placing seventh in the women's long jump (4.70 meters, 15 feet, 5.75 inches) and sixth in the triple jump (9.59 meters, 31 feet, 10 inches). In the men's triple jump,
Lorenzo Johnson-Cutler and
Bryson Carpenter placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with jumps of 13.60 meters (44 feet, 7.5 inches) and 13.32 meters (43 feet, 8.5 inches). Carpenter also tied for third in the men's high jump, clearing 1.85 meters (6 feet, .75 inches), alongside teammate Curtis Bownes, who placed fourth with the same height.
Desire' Poole rounded out the meet with an eighth-place finish in the women's shot put, recording a throw of 10.76 meters (33 feet, 3.5 inches).
