Preview: Kentucky State Women's Basketball Set to Face 2024 GMAC Runner-Up Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky State women's basketball is set to meet in-state opponent Kentucky Wesleyan, on Friday, Nov. 8th at 6:30 p.m. inside the Owensboro Sportscenter in Owensboro, Kentucky. 

The Thorobreds are entering the contents after an exhibition matchup at Loyola University Chicago (Nov. 4). Although the Thorobreds fell 91-56 to the Ramblers, a pair of Thorobreds scored in the double figures, Naja Fenelon (16) and Shannon Niles (15). Kentucky State found their best quarter of play in the third quarter making eight shots from the and two of their three shots from beyond the arc to score 21 points, just three points behind the 24 of the Ramblers during the quarter. 
 
Kentucky Wesleyan enters Friday, tied for fourth on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Coaches Poll. The Panthers had a successful 2023-24 season of 21-7 overall and 16-4 in GMAC play. They finished as the runner-up at the GMAC Championship while earning a spot at the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship. 
 
Since 2015, the two have met three times with the Thorobreds leading the series 2-1. In their last meeting (Nov. 22, 2023), the Panthers defeated the Thorobreds 95-51 in Frankfort.
