PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – Men's Golf opens the 2022 Fall season with a first-place team finish and
Micah Stangebye placed first at the Alice Lloyd College Men's Fall Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Stangebye opened the first round with five birdies through ten holes propelling him to a -5 (67). In the final round, he tallied five birdies and closed out the round -3 (69) to win the tournament outright.
The Thorobreds held a good lead after a first-round score of -2 (286), and in a rocky second round, they finished the tournament +6 (294).
Robert Johnson finished the tournament in fourth place after two even par (72,72) rounds. His teammate
Jean-Marc Chevrotiere tied for fifth with an opening round +1 (73) and improved on the second day with an even-par 72.
Will Gibson had a first-round +2 (74) while catching a little trouble in the second, closing the tournament with +9 (81).
Ryan Khounlavong finished right behind Gibson with a +1 (75) and a final round +9 (81).
Anthony Vascotto rounded out the day with a first-round 85 and a second 87.
Kentucky State will look to continue their success September 26 -27 at the HBCU Hall of Fame Tournament in Braselton, Georgia.
