PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Kentucky State Men's Golf team finished third at the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship on the Flat Creek Golf Course.
In the opening round, Kentucky State finished with a 309 and sat just one back of second-place Miles, who opened the tournament with a 308. In the second round, the Thorobreds would match the Golden Bears with a 313. The first two rounds protected Kentucky State as a rocky final round 316 allowed them to remain in third place for the tournament.
Micah Stangebye held second place for the first two rounds after an opening-round 71 and a second round. The final round gave Stangebye some trouble, and he closed out the round with an 80 and finished sixth.
Jared Southerland opened the first round with a 78 and improved in the second with a 76. He shot a final-round 82 to finish 13th.
Cade Kilkenny socred his lowest round of the tournament in the third round with a 75, and in the first round, he shot an 82 and improved in the second round with an 80 to finish 14th.
Will Gibson finished 16th with a pair of 79s in the first and third rounds. He completed the second round with an 82.
Johnathan Greenwell rounded out the tournament in T-20th after a first-round 81 and an 84 in the second and third rounds.
Stangebye was named to the 2022 SIAC Men's Golf All-Conference Second Team during the tournament.
