Thorobreds Sweep Central State in Regular Season Play

Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. – Hannah Henderson scores 21 points to push Kentucky State past rival Central State 80-69.  

Along with scoring 21 points Henderson tallied 10 rebounds adding another double-double to her season. 

It was a career night for Taylor Robinson scoring 11 points, while grabbing five rebounds. 

How It Happened
Kentucky State held the lead in the first quarter for 7:03 and shot 62.5% from the field (10-of-16). Laurie Thomas and Robinson scored six points each to give their team a 21-19 lead at the end of the quarter. 
 
Henderson went 100% from the charity stripe and 4-of-6 from the field to score 11 points and grab four of the teams nine rebounds of the second quarter. Kentucky State scored 18 of their 20 points in the paint giving them a 41-29 lead going into halftime. 
 
Andrea Wallace went to the lane for a smooth lay up to give her team their largest lead of the quarter of 16 points (61-45). Kentucky State closed out the third quarter with 61-48 lead. 
 
As a team the Thorobreds made nine of their 16 shots from the field gained their largest lead of the night of 23 points (78-55) to defeat their rival Central State 80-69. 
 
Post-Game Thoughts
Returning from a lengthy road trip with a one day break in between games raised some concern going into today's contest, we just came off of a long road trip, we were concerned about what our legs were going to be like. I knew they were just going to have to tough it out, which they did. We had some energy we were consistent. In the first half we weren't as good. But in the second half we were able to push through it and pull out a victory." Coach Slater said.

Kentucky State will return home to host league opponent Miles College on Thursday, February 17th at 5:30 p.m. inside the Exum Center. The game will be streamed from the KYSU Athletic Facebook, and NO SPECTATORS will be allowed inside the Exum Center.
