Four named Black College Nine Elite

Four Kentucky State University baseball players were named to the Black College Nine Elite Team for the shortened 2020 season, the website announced today (March 26, 2020).

Senior Chance Egnor (Shepherdsville, Ky.) and sophomore Dashawn Hureskin (Benton Harbor, Mich.) earned first-team honors, while senior Brady Bibbs (Hornersville, Mo.) and junior Adren Thompson (Lexington, Ky.) were named to the second team.

"I'm proud of Dashawn and Chance for being named to the first team, and Brady Bibbs and Boo Thompson for being named to the second team as recognized by Black College Nines," said Kentucky State University head coach Rob Henry. "These young men are well deserving and helped us earn a #2 ranking in the final small college HBCU poll for Black College Nines. I wish we had gotten the chance to see how the season played out because there were some programs that were on the brink of having historic seasons, and I believe we were one of those. Unfortunately, sometimes circumstances are out of our control, and I hope our players look back as fondly on the beginning of this spring as I do and work towards building on it for next year as things begin to return to normal."

Hureskin hurled a gem in his first start of the season, striking out 14 in seven scoreless innings. He started six games for the Thorobreds. Hureskin finished 3-2 with a team-leading 1.80 ERA.

Egnor provided some pop to the middle of the Thorobreds' lineup. He was second on the team with a .364 batting average. He slashed .364/.567/.556 for the season with two homeruns and 16 RBI. Egnor led the team with 16 walks and was hit a team-high eight times.

Bibbs, a preseason All-Region and All-SIAC selection, finished 3-1 on the season with a 2.64 ERA. After a rough opening outing, the right hander was 3-0 with a 1.03 ERA. Bibbs was also a 2019 Black College Nines Elite second team member last season.
Thompson finished the season with a hit in nine of the last 11 games to finish with a .328 batting average. He slashed .328/.494/.522 on the season with a team-high seven doubles, two homeruns and 20 RBI.

Kentucky State, which finished the season ranked second by Black College Nines, was 12-8-1 in the shortened season.
