ATLANTA, Ga. – Kentucky State University senior
Anthony Hampton has been honored by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) for his performance this past week, the league announced today (March 10, 2020).
Hampton (Sumter, S.C.) was named the SIAC Men's Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week.
"AJ's honor this week is just one of the many accolades he deserves to earn this year," said Kentucky State University head coach
Fatimah Shabazz. "He is a prime example of reaping the harvest of hard work and dedication."
An All-Region selection during the indoor season, Hampton threw a career-best distance of 43.47 meters in the hammer throw to win the Savannah State Blue and Orange Invite. It was the best mark in the SIAC this season. He also placed second in the shot put with a throw of 12.60 meters, good for third in the league.
Kentucky State returns to action March 21 at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic, hosted by SIU-Edwardsville.
