The Kentucky State University Women's Basketball team travels to Jackson, Tenn. Thursday to take on Lane College at 6:30 p.m. EST at the JF Lane Gymnasium.

Kentucky State (7-16, 4-12 SIAC) comes off its most recent 50-46 loss to Miles College Monday night but the 'Breds showcased a strong defensive performance surrendering only the second-least points all season. Three Kentucky State players amassed double figures led by Carnethia Brown's (Louisville, Ky.) team-high 13 points. Erica Jones (South Haven, Miss.) and Victoria Blankenship (Fayetteville, N.C.) added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Allenia Ponder (Smyrna, Ga.) added a team-high five steals.

Kentucky State has three players averaging at least 11 points per game led by Blankenship, who leads the team in scoring with 12.1 points per game and has grabbed 6.1 rebounds per game. Brown (11.9 ppg) is second on the team in scoring and first with 48 three-pointers made. Jones is now averaging 11.4 points per game and is first on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game. Ponder leads the team with 47 assists and 47 steals.

Lane College (8-15, 7-9 SIAC) enters the contest on a two-game losing streak with its most recent loss coming by way of a 70-58 defeat against Tuskegee University on Monday. The Dragons are led by Ra'Keta Shelton, who is Lane's only double-figure scorer averaging 13.7 points per game.

Lane ranks last in the SIAC in scoring offense (55.4 ppg), three-point field goal percentage (22.4 percent) and three point field goals made (2.5 per game).

Kentucky State is 14-6 against Lane College dating back to 2010, amassing a 6-3 road record during the series. The 'Breds won the last matchup 53-50 in January behind Blankenship's 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jones added 10 points in the victory and the 'Breds defense held LC's offense to just 31 percent from the field.
