The Kentucky State University women's basketball team tries to secure the fifth seed in the West Division as the Thorobreds host Tuskegee 5:30 p.m. Monday in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
THE LAST MEETING:Â Â The Kentucky State University women's basketball team shook off a slow start to force overtime, but ultimately fell to Tuskegee University, 57-47, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on January 11.
After hitting just one three-pointer in the 40-minute regulation period, the Golden Tigers got back-to-back triples from their post players to spark the game-deciding 14-1 run in the extra period.
The final period featured six ties and five lead changes, and a driving layup by sophomoreÂ
Erica Jones with 40 seconds remaining forced the final tie of the quarter. Kentucky State was forced get two defensive stops down the stretch. After getting the first stop, a turnover gave Tuskegee possession for one last gasp.
SeniorÂ
Brooke Wallace recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Junior
Jessie Kee added nine points and seven rebounds, while Williams chipped in with nine points.
THE TEAMS:Â Kentucky State (13-10 overall, 6-10 SIAC), which has lost consecutive games, are in tied for fifth place in the West Division with the Spring Hill and Central State entering the last week of conference action. KSU swept the season series from Spring Hill and split with the Marauders.
West Division champions Tuskegee (18-6 overall, 13-3 SIAC) has won seven of its last eight games. The Golden Tigers are third in the SIAC with a scoring margin of plus-3.1.
THE COACHES:Â
Terrance Slater is in his third season as the head coach, and fifth season with the program. He led Kentucky State to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference semifinals a season ago. He was an assistant the last time KSU advanced to the SIAC title game.
Trelanne Moore-Powell is in her first season as the Tuskegee head coach, taking over the Golden Tigers after a three year stint as the assistant coach at Division I Mercer University.
THE PLAYERS:Â SeniorÂ
Brooke Wallace is one of four SIAC players averaging a double-double as the forward is scoring 13.0 points and pulling down 10.8 rebounds, both team highs. She has recorded a team-high 15 double-doubles.
JuniorÂ
Jessie Kee is the reigning back-to-back SIAC Newcomer of the Week. She averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds last week.  It helped boost her season average to 11.8 points and 6.4 rebounds.
After missing three games, sophomoreÂ
Erica Jones returned to action in limited minutes. She is third on the team with 11.0 points and third with 5.8 rebounds.
JuniorÂ
Kiante Butts is second on the team in rebounding with 7.5 boards. She has recorded a double-double in five of the last eight games. JuniorÂ
Amani Williams leads the team with 100 assists.

Senior Alexis Carter is pulling down a SIAC-best 11.7 rebounds, and is fourth in scoring with 18.1 points. Jade Wilson is second on the team with 11.5 and third with 6.2 rebounds.
