The Kentucky State women's basketball team returns home after five straight games on the road to face McKendree University in non-conference action.
THE TEAMS: Kentucky State (4-5) snapped a five-game losing streak with an impressive 62-39 victory over LeMoyne-Owen Monday. Junior
Kiante Butts recorded her first KSU double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while senior
Brooke Wallace led the team with 18 points and seven boards.
McKendree (6-2) has won three consecutive, and five of its last six games, and is coming off a 69-48 win over Missouri Baptist. The Bearcats were picked to finish eighth in the 14-team Great Lakes Valley Conference. (

THE COACHES:
Terrance Slater is in his third season as the head coach, and fifth season with the program. The
Thorobreds are 24-38 in his tenure as a head coach. He led Kentucky State to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference semifinals a season ago. He was an assistant the last time KSU advanced to the
SIAC title game.
Kari Kerkhoff is in her third season on the McKendree bench, and has led the Bearcats to double-figure victories in each of her first two years.
THE PLAYERS: Senior
Brooke Wallace is one of four players in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference averaging a double-double, leading the
Thorobreds with 13.8 points and 11.1 rebounds. She
is eighth in the
SIAC in scoring and second in rebounds. She has been the team's leading scorer in six of the team's nine games.
Junior
Jessie Kee is second on the team in scoring with 10.7 points, and has really blossomed since moving into the starting lineup two games ago. Sophomore
Erica Jones is second on the team with 7.0 rebounds to go along with 9.1 points. Junior
Amani Williams are distributing a team-high 30 assists.
Sophomore guard Sydney Diekhoff is scoring a team-high 16.5 points on 36.4 percent shooting (40-of-110), while junior guard Jordan Heberg is added 11.1 points. Senior forward Jordan Morton is pulling down a team-best 7.4 rebounds, while sophomore guard Callie Pohlman is dishing out 33 assists.
