Third Quarter Surge Downs WBB at McKendree University, 64-51

Box Score Lebanon, Ill.—Kentucky State University women's basketball dropped its non-conference matchup with McKendree University on Monday night at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.

The Thorobrettes (2-9, 2-2) have now lost three straight games and are 0-6 against opponents outside of the SIAC. The Bearcats (2-5) snapped a five-game losing streak dating back to Nov. 17.

"We played a great first half and came out flat in the second half, and you can't do that on the road," said head coach Terrance Slater. "I'm happy that we had some people step up but we have to put an entire game together.  Not just one half."

KSU led at the half by using a balanced scoring attack of eight different Thorobrettes contributing to the 35-27 score. The Bearcats came out the intermission clicking with a 16-2 run and outscoring the visitors 24-5, putting them a deep hole they couldn't overcome.

Freshman guard Wynter Webb led the green and gold in scoring for the first time this season with 10 points in 24 minutes of play. Junior guard Lyndsey Downing contributed by playing a team-high 35 minutes with six points, four assists, and three rebounds.

Next stop for the Thorobrettes will be on Friday evening on the road at NCAA DI and Mid-American Conference member Western Michigan University.
