WILBERFORCE, Ohio -Â The Kentucky State University women's basketball team defeated the Central State University Lady Marauders on Tuesday night at the Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium. The victory pushes Kentucky State's record to 2-1 early in the season while Central State falls to 1-3.

Taylor Sanders broke free from the Central State defense and converted a layup to put the Thorobrettes ahead, 65-64. After Central State's Iniquia Snell missed a jumper as time expired, Kentucky State earned the heart-stopping victory.
After sweeping CSU last season, the Thorobrettes pick up their third straight win against the Lady Marauders. While neither team shot the ball particularly effectively, Kentucky State shooting 38 percent from the floor and Central State just 36 percent, the Thorobrettes were able to limit their turnovers, 15, compared to the 22 committed by CSU. Brieona Warner had a game-high 20 points for the Thorobrettes. Warner finished with a double-double after pulling down 11 rebounds while also picking up three steals and a block on the defensive end. Fellow All-SIAC seniorÂ
Shayla Moore had a strong all-around game with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block. Senior center
Teeuntra Moore was just a point and rebound shy of a double-double of her own. She finished with 9 points and nine rebounds.
Central State was led offensively by Amanda Pierce and Snell who finished with 18 and 17 points respectively. Pierce picked up a double-double with 10 rebounds and Snell had a game-high four steals.
