Thorobrettes Fall to Livingstone, 71-48, to Wrap C.Y. Russell Classic

Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team fell to the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears, 71-48, in the final game of the C.Y. Russell Classic being hosted by KSU at the Exum Center this weekend.
 
Kentucky State (1-1) was plagued by turnovers on Saturday, committing 28 as a team. Livingstone (3-1) turned those mistakes into 27 points.
 
After taking a slim three point lead in halftime, LC outscored the Thorobrettes 44-24 in the second half on their way to a 71-48 victory.
 
LC guard Precious Roberts scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half. Roberts went 8-for-12 from the floor including a perfect 2-for-2 from 3-point range. Guard Cierra York led the Lady Blue Bears with four assists while also picking up 12 points.
 
Shaquanda Wiggins picked up her second double-double of the young season with 12 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday. Wiggins also had a pair of blocks and a steal. Wiggins was the only Thorobrette to score double digits, with the team shooting just 32 percent (16-for-50) from the floor.
 
Kentucky State now sets their sights on a trip to Wilberforce, Ohio this upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 25, for a matchup against rival Central State. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
