Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Kentucky State Thorobrettes were defeated by Central State University, 70-58, on Thursday Feb. 14
th at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Ky. Senior guard
Sharnita Lloyd led the Thorobrettes with 13 points but struggled from the floor going 5-of-15 for the game.
With the non-conference loss KSU falls to 12-10 overall and remains 8-5 in SIAC action.
The Marauders improve their overall record to 14-10, 1-4 in GMAC play.
Kentucky State was able to distribute the ball effectively but was unable to control the boards against Central State. KSU had 15 team assists on 19 made shots from the floor. Central State used its depth of front court players to wear down the Thorobrettes and pull in 45 total rebounds, 18 of those coming on the offensive glass.
Brielle Newton was the only other Thorobrette to get into double digit scoring with 10 points on 5-of-10 shots from the floor. Newton also added eight rebounds and was solid on the defensive end with an impressive seven blocks.
Central State was able to spread the scoring load with four players reaching double figures. Tanija Beasley led the Marauders with 14 points, nine rebounds, two steals and a block.
KSU is back on the court this Saturday, Feb. 16
th, when they host conference foe Lane College. The game will be at the Exum Center in Frankfort, Ky. with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
