Frankfort, KY –The Kentucky State Thorobreds took the court vs. an Old Foe Wilberforce University Bulldogs jumping out to an early lead and never looked back. Troy Adams scored 17 points and Patrick Dawson added 12 points en-route to the resounding 63-47 victory.
The Breds started off early with a three pointer by Patrick Dawson followed by a lay-up by John Gaston to jump to an early 5-0 lead. After a free throw by the Bulldogs Kyree Marshall the Breds would jump out to a 10-1 lead 15 minutes into the game.
The Bulldogs would climb back and take a 14-10 lead before Markus Montague sparked a KSU run when he put back a Troy Adams miss to tie the game at 14. Wilberforce would have their last lead of the game when they lead 17-14 after a three pointer by Rachaum Thompson. The Breds would then go on a 12-3 point run sparked by big baskets Patrick Dawson and Tryston Ford to take a 27-20 lead. At the end of the first half the score was 39-28.
The Second Half started with a 10-4 run to extend the lead to 49-31 and the Breds will look back no more. Troy Adams would hit several three's and John Gaston would get into the action and push the lead to 59-38. Guard Quentin Henderson would add 9 points and 2 steals while John Gaston added 7 points and 4 rebounds. The Breds would score 28 points off of the bench and 23 points off turnovers to take victory 63-47.
With the win the Thorobreds move to 2-3 on the season and will be back in action on Thursday when they play #16 ranked Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, KY.
