KSU Thorobrettes Secure Victory at Home Against Miles College

Frankfort, KY-The Thorobrettes of KSU take on Miles College at home in the Exum Center.
KSU started out looking very sluggish, allowing Miles to take a 14-7 lead early in the 1st half of the game. Miles's foul trouble late in the first half made way for the Thorobrettes to tie the game at 14 following a fast break layup by forward Courtney Matthewis (Houston, TX). KSU was unsuccessful at their attempt to claim the lead before halftime due to a few crucial turnovers committed late in the 1st half. KSU headed to halftime down 18-24. Matthewis led the team with 7 points as the Thorobrettes shot 26.3%, hitting 5-19 from the field.
KSU came into the 2nd half ignited as the Thorobrettes went on a 10-0 run behind great teamwork in the post and two big 3-pointers by Junior guard Asia Dubose (Cincinnati, OH) as KSU led Miles 28-24 with 15:53 on the clock. KSU's 21 bench points proved to be the turnaround for the Thorobrettes ad they managed to keep the lead for the rest of the 2nd half. KSU's largest lead was 15 with 4:41 left in the game.
Junior Courtney Matthewis (Houston, TX) led all scorers with 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Kiera Nelson (Cordova, TX) followed with 13 points of her own.
Sammeika Thomas led all Miles College scorers with 18 points.
