Brettes Victorious at Home Against Tuskegee


Frankfort, KY-KSU Thorobrettes are victorious at home as they battled the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University.

The 1st half remained very close for the most part. Tuskegee kept the score close matching KSU point for point in the games first 6 minutes of play. After 5 lead changes, KSU started to take off after a jumper by guard Megan LaRue (Lexington, KY) put the Thorobrettes back into the lead 22-21 with 4:09 left in the first half. KSU went on a 13-0 run to end out the half up 35-21 going into the 2nd half. The 1st half saw 4 ties in the score with KSU's Kiarra Morgan (Omaha, NE), Kiera Nelson (Cordova, TX), and Megan LaRue (Lexington, KY) all leading with 7 points.

KSU came into the 2nd half with the same intensity they had closing out the 1st half and dominated Tuskegee. Kiarra Morgan's (Omaha, NE) 9 total rebounds helped the Thorobrettes lead by so much as 20 points with 11:03 left in the game. The Golden Tigers of Tuskegee were not able to establish a lead in the 2nd half. KSU closed out the game 66-56 behind Kiera Nelson's (Cordova, TX) 19 points along with Courtney Matthewis's (Houston, TX) 12 points.

KSU shot a good 50.1% from the field, hitting 26-51.

Tequila Martin led all Tuskegee scorers with 17 points.
