FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State football collected three first-place votes and held steady at No. 2 in the Week 3 2026 HBCU Division II Football Coaches Poll, powered by BOXTOROW.
With Kentucky State trailing 17-14 in the second half, Denim Johnson found Cameron Tucker for a 35-yard touchdown pass that secured a 21-17 win over nonconference opponent Saginaw Valley State. The win moved the Thorobreds to 3-1 overall while they remained 2-0 in SIAC play.
Benedict remained at No. 1 in the poll after a 34-33 overtime win over conference opponent Fort Valley State.
Road play continues for the Thorobreds as they head to Albany, Ga., for a conference matchup against Albany State on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN+.
