FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State running back
Tristan Thomas has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week following his performance against NCAA Division I opponent Southern University.
Thomas led all players with 184 all-purpose yards, rushing 19 times for a game-high 110 yards while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He added four receptions for 74 yards and scored on a 72-yard reception during the third quarter.
The 72-yard touchdown was the longest play of the night and sparked a stretch in which the Thorobreds scored 13 points in 50 seconds. Thomas also recorded a game-long 29-yard run.
Kentucky State will return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, against Clark Atlanta. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
