Kentucky State Football Climbs to No. 1 in Super Region Two, No. 10 Nationally in NCAA Power Index Rankings

FRANKFORT, Ky.  — Kentucky State University football continues to strengthen their postseason position, climbing to No. 1 in Super Region Two and No. 10 nationally in the latest NCAA Division II Power Index (NPI) rankings.

The Thorobreds moved up three spots nationally from No. 13 to No. 10, earning an NPI Rating of 61.422 to take the top position in Super Region Two.

Kentucky State leads a competitive regional field, sitting ahead of SIAC opponents Edward Waters and Benedict. Edward Waters ranks second in Super Region Two with an NPI rating of 60.860, while Benedict follows in third with a rating of 60.251.

The Thorobreds' rise in the rankings reflects their continued success on the field as they position themselves among the nation's top NCAA Division II football programs heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

The NCAA Power Index, adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year, evaluates teams based on game results and strength of schedule. The rankings provide a transparent measure of team performance and help determine selections for the NCAA Division II Football Championship.
