FRANKFORT, Ky. — Although finding a midgame surge, Kentucky State baseball fell to Brescia 18-12 Tuesday in Frankfort.
 
Kentucky State recorded 12 runs on 13 hits with three errors. Brescia finished with 18 runs on 17 hits with two errors.
 
At the plate, Braylen Duncan went 3-for-4, including a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Ryan Campbell added a home run in the seventh inning while scoring two runs and recording two RBIs.
 
Haruta Endo led the Thorobreds with three RBIs, including one double.
 
The Bearcats jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning. The Thorobreds responded with RBI singles from Kendall Garland and Brady Wooldridge.
 
In the third inning, a sacrifice fly from Endo added one run as the Thorobreds looked to close the Bearcats' lead to 8-2. Brescia scored on a home run and an RBI double to take a 10-2 lead through four innings.
 
Kentucky State mounted a six-run rally in the fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Wooldridge, a two-run double from Endo, and an RBI double from Campbell. Both McDonald and Major delivered RBI hits to bring the Thorobreds within two, 10-8.
 
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Campbell hit a solo home run to right field. Duncan followed in the eighth inning with a two-run home run to right field to cut the deficit to 13-11.
 
Brescia extended its lead by scoring five runs in the ninth inning to secure an 18-12 win over Kentucky State.
 
UP NEXT
The Thorobreds are now off to Memphis, Tenn. for a three-game SIAC series with LeMoyne-Owen beginning on March 28 with a doubleheader.
