MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Amyah Adair-Mars scored a game-high 16 points, but a late second-half surge by LeMoyne-Owen handed Kentucky State women's basketball a 64-49 loss.
Amyah Adair-Mars led all scorers with 16 points, making seven shots from the field and a pair of 3-pointers.
Foul trouble cost the Thorobreds, as 20 fouls turned into 14 points at the charity stripe for the Magicians.
The Thorobreds struck first on a layup from McBroom, but the Magicians went on a 9-1 run to take a 12-9 lead with 2:58 remaining in the first quarter. LeMoyne-Owen used the momentum to take a 16-12 lead at the end of the first.
LeMoyne-Owen made four of its final five shots from the field in the second quarter to take a 33-30 lead over Kentucky State going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Magicians found a late run to take a 54-43 lead at the end of the period.
At 3:17 of the fourth quarter, the Magicians extended their lead to 64-44 on a 17-3 scoring run and went on to defeat the Thorobreds 64-49.

Kentucky State will remain on the road as it heads to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the Allen Yellow Jackets on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 5:30 p.m.
