RICHMOND, Ky. – Kentucky State men's golf earned a tie for ninth place at the Colonel Classic, closing the three-round event with a team score of 887 at the University Club at Arlington.
Robert Johnson paced the Thorobreds with a steady performance across all three rounds, carding 70, 71 and 74 to finish at 215 (+5) and tie for 22nd overall in the individual standings.
Brady Hensley rebounded from an opening-round 82 by firing an even-par 70 in the second round before adding a 75 on the final day, ending tied for 53rd at 227 (+17).
Jean-Marc Chevrotiere matched him on the leaderboard at 228 (+18), while
Garrison Barton posted a three-day total of 232 (+22). Min Joon Kim followed at 233 (+23), and John D. Costa rounded out the team card with 238 (+28).
Kentucky State finished level with Tennessee State in the 15-team field. Host Eastern Kentucky placed second overall, while Longwood captured the team title at 823, led by medalist Gabriel Mainella's 196 (-14).
Individually, Kentucky State also had two unattached competitors.
Andrew Kendrick placed 74th with a three-round score of 253 (+43).
